Implementing the Elements & Principles of Design: Block Printing
Sixth graders in Ms. O'Connor's Art classes have been investigating how designers apply the elements and principles of design in their work. Through observation of print ads, graphic calendars, and posters students identified how and where the principles of design were applied effectively to communicate the artist’s ideas to the viewer.
6th Grade Summer Reading Art Project
This image is from the 6th Grade Summer Reading Art Assignment. Students worked from a Still-life filled with objects that were part of the Summer Reading book, The Potato Chip Puzzles. They were asked to create a representative composition from the still-life with Oil Pastels.
Students in the Medfield Public Schools work from Observation each year as part of our K-12 Fine Arts Curriculum. These examples demonstrate the high skill level our students are able to obtain thanks to their clear understanding of Observational work.
Please enjoy these pages, and visit often to see all the updated Galleries throughout the year.
6th Grade Art Plus students use 2-Point Perspective to draw houses.
Mr. Cousens' 6th Grade Art Plus students were instructed on the principles of Linear Perspective. They used these concepts to draw houses in 3D from photographs they brought in (some students that didn't have a picture of their own house used stock images supplied by Mr. Cousens).
Can you recognize any of these homes from your neighborhood?
